Co-constructive tool

 Reflection 8 (6/05/2022)

In this session, we have looked into the co-constructive tool and the benefits of using it in the classroom. A co-construction tool is an approach, where it emphasizes collaboration, and partnership working in a group or with a peer rather than working independently to construct meaning. It is the concept that students can use to help them learn from others and expand their knowledge. Students use technology to share their ideas, discuss their thoughts, and work together through online discussions or chats. Moreover, they can create and collaborate on online documents in real-time and from any device.

Importance of Co-constructive tool

Ø  Through co-construction, the students will be able to explore and share their views in terms of learning.

Ø  It enhances the learner to construct the knowledge through shared ideas, thoughts, and interests inculcating the skills of collaboration and teamwork.

Ø  They can able to build a relationship with society to have effective communication and learning.

Examples of co-constructive tools

1. Google docs

Google Docs is a word processor included as part of a free, web-based software office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. This service also includes Google Sheets and Google Slides, a spreadsheet and presentation program respectively.

 2. Blogs

Blogging is an excellent approach in classroom teaching and learning to engage the students meaningfully on the internet. It provides perfect opportunities to connect with people around the world showing their creativity and skills to the larger community.

Through blogging, students can easily share what is in their minds with other people without any hesitation enhancing learners’ creativity and analytical thinking skills. Students get a lot of knowledge and learn a lot of new things by reading and writing a blog. They build emotional intelligence and starts thinking from others' perspective resulting in utilizing their knowledge as well as improving creativity in everything as they start thinking out of the box.

3. Coggle. it

Coggle is a freeware mind mapping web application. Coggle produces hierarchically structured documents, like a branching tree. This contrasts with other collaborative editors, like Google Docs, which provide either linear or tabular document formats.

Integrating Co-constructive tool

In schools students and teachers can use the tools to construct a shared understanding of new knowledge. The difference that the co-constructive tool has from the constructive tool is that in the co-constructive, the users develop their understanding collaboratively unlike the constructive tool where the users work independently to construct personal knowledge.

We can integrate co-constructive tools in the classroom by constructing the lesson planning using Goggle Docs in the teaching and learning process. In addition to that, the teacher can let the students do the concept mapping of the essay topics and their related ideas using Coggle. it. Furthermore, they can use Goggle slides and Google sheets for the collaborative learning process.
